Polyphosphoric acid

Polyphosphoric acid

Two or more orthophosphoric acid molecules can be joined by condensation into larger molecules by elimination of water. This way, a series of polyphosphoric acids can be obtained.

Polyphosphoric acid can be obtained by dehydrating the right quality of phosphoric acid. The raw material used to produce polyphosphoric acid is a phosphoric acid solution concentrated at # 50% - 60% P2O5. For the dehydration, our Pulvaporizator® is used to pulverize, vaporize and to bring the H3PO4 molecule to the desired temperature where the dehydration phenomenon can occur. The mixture of polyphosphoric acid and gases is then cooled, and separated with the gases washed and released to the atmosphere, and the polyphosphoric acid recovered.
